inkeep Privacy Policy

inkeep is a notebook for keeping up with people you know. Everything you write stays on your device. inkeep has no server of its own, and your data is never sent to the developer.

1. What we handle

inkeep has no sign-up and creates no account. Everything below lives on your device only.

• What you type: names, nicknames, phone numbers, birthdays, company, job title, address, notes, photos, upcoming meetups, gift records, groups and tags.
• [Optional] Contacts: read only when you tap "Import from contacts". See section 3.
• [Optional] Usage statistics and crash reports: off by default, on only if you opt in. See section 5.
• [Optional] Google account: used only if you turn on Google Drive backup. See section 4.

2. Where it is stored

All of the above is kept in the app's private storage on your device and is never transmitted to a developer server. inkeep has no account server and no admin tool that could read your data.

Deleting the app deletes this data with it.

3. Contacts are read-only

inkeep only reads your contacts and never writes to them. The app does not declare the contacts write permission (WRITE_CONTACTS) at all, so it is technically unable to. No notes or markers are ever written back to your phone's contacts.

Permission is requested only at the moment you tap "Import from contacts" — never on first launch. If you decline, every feature still works; you can add people by hand.

Imported details are kept by inkeep, so if a contact is later edited, merged or deleted, what you have in inkeep is unaffected. Contact identifiers (contact id, lookup key) are not stored.

4. Google Drive backup (optional)

Backup is off unless you turn it on. When enabled, the backup file is uploaded only to the app-specific folder (appDataFolder) in your own Google Drive. That hidden folder can be used only by apps from the same developer (Axisix). The developer cannot reach it, and it does not appear in your Drive file list. inkeep only reads and deletes its own backup files, whose names start with inkeep_.

We do not store your Google account details. Your email address is used briefly to show the connection status on the settings screen.

You can disconnect at any time, and you can delete the backups from Drive inside the app.

5. Usage statistics and crash reports (optional, off by default)

To learn which features are actually used and where the app breaks, inkeep can send anonymous usage statistics (Firebase Analytics) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics).

Both are off by default. You are asked on first launch, and in Settings you can turn statistics and crash reporting on or off separately at any time.

The events sent are only the following, and they carry counts and option names only:

• person_added, note_added, paywall_viewed, purchase_completed, reminder_set, backup_done
• Names, nicknames, phone numbers, companies, note contents and group names are never sent in any form.
• No advertising identifier is collected. The app explicitly removes the advertising ID permission, and there are no ads.

6. Photos attached to notes

Photos you attach to a note are copied into the app's private folder. They are never written to your gallery, and the developer cannot access them.

If you have Drive backup enabled, photos are included in the backup file — which lives in your own Drive (see section 4).

7. Notifications

Contact reminders, birthday and anniversary alerts, and the evening-before meetup reminder are all local notifications created on your device. Their contents never pass through a server.

8. Third parties and processors

We do not share, sell or rent your data to third parties.

The following services are used only when you enable the corresponding feature:

• Google Drive: only when backup is on, to hold the backup file (in your own Drive).
• Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics: only if you opt in, for statistics and crash reports.
• Google Play Billing: to process Pro subscription payments. Payment details are handled by Google; the developer never receives your payment method.

9. Retention and deletion

Data stays on your device until you delete it.

How to delete it:

• In the app: Settings → Delete data lets you choose to erase all data on this device, your Google Drive backups, and your consent to usage statistics and crash reports.
• Uninstalling: on-device data is removed with the app (Drive backups remain and must be deleted separately).
• Stopping statistics and crash reports: turn each off in Settings, or withdraw consent in Delete data. Withdrawing stops anything more from being sent and erases collected data left on the device, including crash reports not yet sent.
• Deleting usage statistics already sent: in the app, open Settings → Delete data → Request server data deletion to see your App Instance ID (a random install identifier recorded on your device while usage statistics are on), and email that ID to privacy@axisix.studio. The app helps you write or copy the email. If you turned statistics off before and have no ID, you can still email us without one.
• How long it takes: removed from reports within about 72 hours, and fully deleted from the servers within up to two months.
• Crash reports: inkeep does not set a user identifier for crash reports, so one person's reports cannot be picked out and deleted. Once crash reporting is off, no more reports are sent.

10. Children

inkeep is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may change as features or legal requirements change. Updates are posted on this page.
