Dropit values your privacy. Dropit is a stash app that lets you save links and screenshots without titles, folders, or tags, and find them again later by search.
1. Information We Collect
Dropit does not require account registration and does not collect directly identifiable information such as your name or phone number.
Links (URLs), images and screenshots, titles, memos and tags, save times, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. This information is used only to provide app functionality and is not transmitted to a developer server.
Google sign-in is used only when you enable the optional Google Drive backup feature. Even then, Dropit does not store or transmit your Google account information (such as your email) to any developer server; your email is only used briefly to show the connection status on the app's settings screen. (See section 5.)
To improve the app, Dropit automatically collects anonymous usage analytics (Firebase Analytics). This does not include directly identifiable information such as your name or email, nor advertising identifiers. See section 7 for the items collected, purpose, retention, international transfer, and how to opt out.
2. Device Permissions
Dropit may request access to photos and media in order to organize and save screenshots and images, and may use sharing features to receive links and images shared from other apps. Requested permissions are used only to save the items you choose into the app.
If you turn on Google Drive backup, Dropit uses access to an app-specific folder in your own Google Drive to upload and download backup files. This access is limited to the backup files Dropit creates.
You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings or your Google Account settings.
3. Information Stored on the Device
Dropit may store the following information on your device:
- Links (URLs) and domains you save
- Screenshots and images you keep (a copy is stored in the app's storage)
- Text extracted from screenshots/images (on-device OCR, used for search)
- Titles, memos and tags, generated or entered by you
- Save times, favorites, sort and other app preferences
4. Purpose of Use
Information stored on the device is used only to provide app features, including showing your saved items in a list, searching them by keyword, and displaying recent activity.
5. Google Sign-In and Google Drive Backup (Optional)
Dropit offers Google Drive backup only when you turn it on in settings. If you do not use this feature, no Google sign-in or Drive access occurs.
When backup is on, the items and images you saved in Dropit are packaged into a backup file and stored in an app-specific folder (appDataFolder) inside your own Google Drive. This backup is stored only in your own Google Drive; it is not sent to, or accessible by, the developer.
Google sign-in is used solely to obtain this Drive access. Dropit does not store or collect your Google account information (such as your email). You can turn automatic backup off at any time in settings, disconnect (sign out), or delete the backup files directly from your Google Drive.
Data stored in your Google Drive is also subject to Google's privacy policy.
6. Third-Party Sharing
Dropit does not sell or share personal information with third parties. Google Drive backup uses your own storage and does not hand your data to a third party.
7. Usage Analytics, Processing and International Transfer
To improve app quality, Dropit automatically collects anonymous usage analytics using Google's Firebase Analytics. This data does not identify you personally and does not collect advertising identifiers (the app explicitly removes the advertising ID permission).
You can stop analytics transmission at any time by turning off "Usage analytics" in the app settings.
- Automatically collected: app usage (screen views and feature-use events), device information (model, OS version), and app instance ID
- Purpose: analyzing usage statistics and improving the app
- Retention: 14 months from collection
- Processor — Recipient: Google LLC / Task: analyzing and processing app usage statistics
- International transfer — Recipient: Google LLC (United States) / When & how: transmitted over the network when the app runs / Items: the automatically collected data above / Purpose & retention: statistical analysis, 14 months
- How to opt out: turn off "Usage analytics" in settings, or delete the app
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Data stored on the device is kept until you delete the items or the app. Deleting the app also deletes Dropit data stored on the device, including copied images.
Google Drive backup files remain in your Drive until you disconnect in the app or delete the files directly from your Google Drive.
Anonymous usage analytics are retained for 14 months from collection as described in section 7, then automatically deleted.
9. Children's Privacy
Dropit does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated due to changes in app features, legal requirements, or service operations. The latest policy is posted on this page, and previous versions are available under "Previous versions."
